Dallas residents can expect a rollercoaster of weather conditions this week, starting with today's toasty highs near 88 degrees and gusty conditions that could ramp up to 25 mph, according to forecasts from the National Weather Service. As the sun sets, the thermometer is predicted to tumble to a chilly 45 degrees, while the winds shift to a howling north breeze as high as 40 mph velocity.
The rapid shift in temperatures isn't the only concern, while the National Weather Service, in their Hazardous Weather Outlook, has also issued a warning about an elevated threat for grass fires today, especially west of I-35—this is due to a lethal mix of unusually high temperatures, low humidity, and gusty winds contributing to the fire risk.
Looking ahead, locals should prepare for cloudy skies and lower highs around 55 on Wednesday, with breezy conditions continuing as gusts are expected to reach up to 35 mph; however, temperatures will inch upwards as the week draws to a close, with a sunny Friday foreseeing a high near 76.
As the weekend approaches, the weather service anticipates predominantly sunny and clear skies that'll lead into a partly sunny Sunday with a high approaching 81, but don't stash away the umbrellas yet: a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms is on the horizon for Sunday night and following into Monday, where the chance of precipitation falls slightly to 20 percent, there's a swirl of potential thunderstorms in the air.
