A violent collision involving five cars on Grayson Highway left one driver fighting for their life and led to a significant roadway closure in Lawrenceville over the weekend. The chaotic scene unfolded Saturday evening, bringing first responders to a standstill as they worked to manage the aftermath of the devastating crash.
Lawrenceville police reported that the multi-car wreck prompted a complete shutdown of Grayson Highway from Gwinnett Drive to Simonton Road for several hours. According to FOX 5 Atlanta, one driver was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries post haste. Similarly, another victim was found trapped with "obvious" injuries, while other involved parties sustained minor ones.
The circumstances leading up to the crash are still under investigation. However, preliminary findings suggest that one of the drivers was moving at a high rate of speed in the wrong direction, ultimately colliding with four other vehicles. The total number of individuals affected by the crash has not been released.
As the Lawrenceville Police Department continues to piece together the incident, authorities are urging anyone with further information to come forward. They're requesting contact via [email protected], as mentioned by FOX 5 Atlanta.
