
A fatal collision on Highway 71 in Bastrop County claimed the life of a driver late Tuesday evening, as confirmed by KVUE. The Texas Department of Public Safety reported that one victim was killed when their vehicle was T-boned while attempting to cross the busy highway.
The crash occurred on the eastbound lanes near Enchanted Cove, just miles from the intersection with Highway 21, the Department of Public Safety was alerted to the incident around 11:20 p.m. and the site is situated five miles northwest of Wyldwood KXAN stated, based on information released by DPS Dispatch.
The identities of those involved in the crash have not been disclosed yet. Officials are investigating the circumstances that led to the fatal event which abruptly ended one driver's journey.
Details surrounding the condition of the second driver or whether charges will be brought forth remain unclear as the investigation continues. "It is unknown if the other driver will be charged at this time," KVUE reported, indicating the aftermath of the accident is still unfolding with legal considerations and analysis of cause and responsibility likely to affect the resulting actions to be taken by law enforcement.
