Dunwoody citizens, get your nominations in for local environmental champions. The City of Dunwoody is on the hunt for its next Sustainability Hero, an individual or organization that stands out for their dedication and service to sustainable practices.
According to an announcement by the City of Dunwoody, the Sustainability Hero Award program, which kicked off in 2012, is back to honor local eco-warriors for their work. The Chair of Dunwoody’s Sustainability Committee, Michael Pray, enthused, “True heroes are those who work tirelessly to protect our planet and inspire others to join them on the journey towards a sustainable future.” The call for nominations opened February 13 and will run till March 8, with winners to be announced come April.
The City’s Sustainability Committee, which meets monthly, focuses on reducing the city’s environmental footprint through improved resource efficiency. This committee is also a hub for public education and outreach on all things green. Residents and businesses are invited to submit their picks online, contributing to a more eco-friendly community.
Last year, Michael Cowan and Blooms of Dunwoody snagged the accolade, recognized for their green efforts. Nominees this round must be Dunwoody residents or businesses with a valid city license, or else they must have a solid link to sustainable projects within Dunwoody.
