An Ellenwood man is behind bars after a massive drug bust in DeKalb County, Georgia. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) confirmed the arrest of Vincent Simon, 39, with charges related to drug trafficking, as part of a coordinated operation with the DeKalb County Police Department. The crackdown, happening on February 6, turned up an arsenal of weapons and a large quantity of drugs.
During the operation, the authorities executed search warrants at two locations – one in the 2900 block of Ward Lake Way, Ellenwood, GA, and another in the 3400 block of Misty Valley Road, Decatur, GA. They hit a jackpot when the officers seized around 135 pounds of what appears to be marijuana, 405 grams of suspected cocaine, and roughly 2 kilograms of MDMA/ecstasy, in addition to 45 firearms. The cache of drugs and guns highlights the ongoing battle against street-level drug distribution in the community.
Simon is now in DeKalb County Jail. According to official statements, there may be more arrests as the investigation continues to unfold. The operation stemmed from a concentrated effort to tackle the drug trade within the county and foster a safer environment for residents.
