The Gaddy family of Fayette County has chosen to donate more than $6,000 to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Fayette Piedmont Hospital. This donation comes on the heels of their grandchild's passing, who spent his brief 11 weeks of life at the hospital. According to FOX 5 Atlanta, the Gaddy's have been doing more than just lighting up the holiday season with their famed Christmas display, they've been ardent philanthropists.

The family's decision to contribute the funds stems from a deeply personal tragedy—the loss of their grandchild Brady who only lived 11 weeks. "Our little boy Brady only lived 11 weeks," Gwen Gaddy told FOX 5 Atlanta. "That is a cause that is very close to our hearts."

Last year's devastation turned into community action as residents and viewers of FOX 5 stepped in to assist, providing the necessary supplies and support to rebuild the cherished display. It was a momentous task, contested against the clock, raising doubts about whether the display could be restored by Thanksgiving. "I think a lot of people wanted to know -- could we do it?" said Mike Gaddy in a statement obtained by FOX 5 Atlanta

The spirit of giving continued as the Gaddy's drive-thru Christmas display managed to amass a record attendance of 29,869 vehicles and raise significant funds for multiple causes. A poignant part of this effort was the collection of $6,000 for the NICU at Piedmont Fayette Hospital. As reported by BNN Breaking, Rebekkah Gaddy expressed her family's understanding of having a child in the NICU and their desire to support others enduring similar trials. "We know how hard it can be to have a child in the NICU," Rebekkah told BNN Breaking. "We want to do everything we can to helps other families who are going through the same thing."
