A routine traffic stop in Fayette County escalated into a high-speed chase that resulted in a head-on collision. A deputy, while on patrol, caught sight of a sedan executing what was believed to be an illegal left turn, the driver, Courtland Reed, ignored the deputy's blue lights signaling a stop, and sped away prompting a pursuit, as reported by FOX 5 Atlanta.

The chase, captured on video, was a brief yet dramatic scenario where Reed was seen making risky maneuvers such as overtaking on double yellow lines and navigating blind curves, even going as far as sideswiping another vehicle before it ended abruptly in a head-on crash, according to FOX 5 Atlanta. Lasting a mere 84 seconds over a mile and a half, the chase concluded when Reed, after running a red light, got hit by a pickup truck which resulted in his vehicle spinning around to face the deputy's oncoming car.

The horrendous crash did not, fortunately, result in any injuries, as highlighted in a report by AOL News, Reed, however, wasn't done, accused of then accelerating into the deputy's car, he now faces multiple charges including fleeing and attempting to elude, a felony, reckless driving, and additional drug and firearm charges, as AOL News reported.

Fayette County Sheriff Barry Babb relayed that miraculously neither the deputy nor Reed suffered any injurious harm due to the incident; this also held true for the external public as well, "No one else was hurt either," Sheriff Babb assured, as mentioned in the FOX 5 Atlanta coverage.
