Fountain Hills is gearing up for its annual artistic extravaganza, but locals and visitors should brace for some inconvenience as the town rolls out road closures to accommodate the Fountain Festival of Fine Arts & Crafts. Starting from noon on Thursday, February 22, several streets are going to be off-limits until the early hours of Monday, February 26. According to a notice posted on the town's official website, those who frequent Saguaro Boulevard or have business on Avenue of the Fountains will have to find alternative routes.
Specifically, traffic will be halted on both the northbound and southbound lanes of Saguaro, from El Lago to Palisades, as well as on Verde River Way at Avenue of the Fountains. Eastbound and westbound traffic on Avenue of the Fountains is also being rerouted between La Montana and Saguaro, with Parkview Avenue at Saguaro closed down as well. The details were confirmed by the town’s official announcement.
These closures are no surprise to the residents, as the Fountain Festival of Fine Arts & Crafts is known for drawing sizable crowds each year. It's a weekend when local artisans, crafters, and art aficionados come together under the auspices of splendid creativity – but at the cost of travel fluidity. The local authorities are advising motorists to plan and navigate the periphery of the festival zone to avoid getting caught in a standstill.
The festival is a highlight in Fountain Hills, showcasing the work of hundreds of artists and offering a variety of activities for attendees. With the town's picturesque fountain as its backdrop, the event promises a vibrant mix of visual art, music, and food. While the road closures might throw a wrench in a casual weekend drive, the arts revelry has long been deemed worth the detour. Ensuring smooth traffic flow and pedestrian safety is a priority for the town, as evidenced by its comprehensive plan for rerouting traffic and maintaining access to emergency vehicles.
