Motorists in Frisco should brace for detours as construction ramps up on the Tollway. The City of Frisco warned drivers on Tuesday that Panther Creek Parkway will shut down at the Dallas Parkway intersection on Wednesday night, to make room for the North Texas Tollway Authority's (NTTA) widening project. The closure is set to begin at 8 p.m. and, barring any weather hiccups, should reopen by 5 a.m. Thursday, according to the City of Frisco.
This temporary closure is sure to quickly impact local travelers. Eastbound and westbound drivers on Panther Creek Parkway will have to detour as they won't be able to cross under the Tollway during these hours. Traffic on Dallas Parkway is expected to remain clear though with the exception that left-hand turns and U-turns at the intersection will be strictly off-limits. Detour routes will reroute the drivers looking to head east on Panther Creek Parkway, pushing them to make a right turn onto southbound Dallas Parkway and loop back using the Eldorado Parkway underpass. As for westbound drivers, a similar dance - they will be directed to turn right onto northbound Dallas Parkway and make a U-turn at PGA Parkway.
The official detour plans have been mapped and shared for public convenience. Detour signs are set to guide drivers, but folks around these parts might want to plot their alternate paths now or get cozy with a traffic app like Waze, as the city recommends. Those interested in staying updated on the DNT widening project progress or other scheduled lane closures along the Dallas Parkway can find the details on the Frisco government site, and for real-time construction updates, residents are encouraged to use the city's Lane Closures interactive story map.
