In a wild series of events, a Georgia woman, identified as Jessica Lynn Lusher, is now behind bars after she reportedly stole an ambulance, crashed it, and then assaulted an ambulance worker with a steel rod. According to a report from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office, WSBTV detailed that the incident occurred last Friday when Lusher took off with the emergency vehicle from Eastside Dialysis on Emery Highway.
The spree didn't last long, as Lusher subsequently crashed the ambulance into a nearby tree. An ambulance worker, Hunter McClure, chased after Lusher only to be struck with a metal rod. McClure was thankfully not seriously injured, but he had quickly to be sent home after receiving medical attention for the day. The authorities, summoning on the scene, described Lusher as appearing "demented or high," officials stated in a sheriff’s office report obtained by 13WMAZ.
Lusher now faces charges of Felony Theft and Simple Battery for her actions. Upon further investigation, tests confirmed the presence of illegal substances, with deputies stating they found cocaine and meth in her system. The disruptive incident, however, thankfully, did not result in extensive harm beyond property damage and the assault on McClure.
As the news broke, the ambulance worker who survived the attack reached out to 13WMAZ, expressing relief that "no one else was seriously injured." Lusher is currently being held at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center, as the community begins to grapple with the potentially lethal mix of drug use and vehicular theft. The case serves as a stark reminder of the unpredictable dangers that first responders must brace to face even outside the regular call of duty.
