In College Park, an argument over service speed and extra cheese at a Burger King off Old National Highway spiraled into violence when disgruntled customers fired shots into the establishment. "I’m like, this is funny because they are going to fight over a burger," witness known as Big Dawg Chino, who captured the incident on video, told WSB-TV. "I told you I wanted extra cheese," the enraged customers were heard saying before retrieving a gun from their car and opening fire, though police confirmed that fortunately, no one was injured.
Merely a month later, a simmering confrontation turned physical and ended in a hail of bullets inside a Burger King on Fairview Road in Ellenwood, in a dispute characterized by the involvement of a 16-year-old employee who allegedly shot a 25-year-old customer, Henry County Police reported the brewing argument concluded with the boy opening fire during a fight that had broken out in the restaurant; as a result the teen now faces charges of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a minor, following his arrest and subsequent transfer to a Regional Youth Detention Center, according to details provided by the 11Alive news report.
Adding to the chaos, a second Burger King employee, 24 years old was also arrested in connection with the Ellenwood episode, facing charges for obstructing an officer and participating in a brawl, as per police statements. And while the 25-year-old customer who was shot has not been charged, the investigation continues to unfold. Burger King expressed their disheartenment at the violent altercations, assuring that such actions do not reflect the brand's commitment to safety and security, "The Franchise of this restaurant is cooperating with local authorities," the company stated, as it declined to provide further details citing the ongoing status of the probe.
