The Gwinnett County police stumbled on nearly $1M worth of stolen construction supplies while serving a search warrant in a Buford home earlier this week. The massive loot, consisting of construction equipment and supplies, was discovered at a residence on the 4200 block of Tuggle Road, as reported by FOX 5 Atlanta.
Following the raid, which was part of a larger investigation into concurrent narcotics and property crimes, police found a treasure trove of items usually seen at a hardware store. Stolen residential flooring, doors, windows, and a host of other building materials filled the home's two garages. Amongst the haul, a large number of pills suspected to be Schedule 1 and 2 illegal narcotics were also uncovered.
The stolen goods are believed to be sourced from local Home Depots and Lowe's stores, as well as snagged from construction sites around the area. Atlanta News First states that the loss prevention divisions from both home improvement retailers were brought in to assist the authorities in pinpointing the origin of the potentially stolen items.
Four individuals are now facing charges in connection with the bust. 60-year-old Bobby Mosley, 41-year-old Charles Mosley, 48-year-old Estuesta Fortuna Rogelio Jr., and 50-year-old Regina Crane have all been charged with possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute. Additional charges may be on the horizon as the investigation continues to unfold, according to Atlanta News First.
Gwinnett County Police Department told FOX 5 that "It may take more than a week to have a complete inventory of everything that was stored at the residence," Efforts are currently underway to return the stolen property to its rightful owners and potentially identify further suspects linked to the thefts.
