A wild car crash scene unfolded in the 7300 block of Louetta Road when a driver, later identified as Obadiah Peoples, hit several vehicles and then hightailed it on foot. The Harris County Constable's Office reported that deputies quickly arrived at the scene after the accident on February 23, where they found that the at-fault driver had caused a ruckus before attempting his escape.
While trying to dodge the long arm of the law, Peoples made a dash into oncoming traffic and, not looking where he was going, climbed onto a car hood, further adding to his trail of destruction. According to a statement by Constable Mark Herman, the constable deputies managed to track down the suspect who by now was more fugitive than motorist.
Justice caught up with Peoples soon after his ill-fated run. "Obadiah Peoples was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Failure to Stop and Give Information and Criminal Mischief. His total bond was set at $2,000.00 out of County Court 4," as stated by Constable Mark Herman. The traffic turmoil, which could've ended in more dire consequences, thankfully resulted in an arrest without reported injuries.
As of now, Peoples waits in custody, his bid for freedom costing him a bond he or his folks will have to post if he's to see the outside of a jail cell any time soon. The deputies' response, swift as the vehicles Peoples allegedly struck, has put a temporary stop to what could have spiraled into a more dangerous situation, with onlookers holding their breath as the drama unfolded on Louetta Road.
