A grisly tale of domestic dispute turned deadly emerged from Hesperia, where on the night of February 11, deputies responded to a chilling scene. According to a press release from the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department, deputies found 28-year-old Natanael Godinez suffering from a fatal stab wound in his home on the 8500 block of C Ave shortly after 10 p.m. Godinez was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead, marking a somber end to what began as an argument with his girlfriend.
In the wake of the stabbing, detectives have zeroed in on Alexis Garcia, 25, also a Hesperia resident, and Godinez's girlfriend. Following the confrontation that reportedly spiraled out of control, Garcia allegedly grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed Godinez. Held without bail at High Desert Detention Center, Garcia faces a murder charge, calling to question the invisible pressures that may precede such violent outbursts in the seemingly quiet suburban stretches of the county.
The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division-Homicide Detail has taken the lead in this ongoing investigation. Garcia, now behind bars, is preparing for a court appearance that will undoubtedly shed more light on the circumstances leading to the tragic altercation. The authorities urge anyone with information to step forward, offering anonymity to those who may fear reprisal or demand discretion.
Locals are asked to contact Deputy Charles Lopez for any tip-offs.
