In the Vine City neighborhood of Atlanta, a carjacking led to a high-speed chase and a severe crash, leaving four people injured, as reported by FOX 5 Atlanta. The incident, involving a vehicle stolen at gunpoint earlier that evening, occurred Wednesday when Atlanta police officers spotted the SUV and attempted a traffic stop.
Racing away from the attempted intervention, the driver eventually lost control, ramming into another car at the intersection of Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard NW and Lena Street NW. The violent collision resulted in four individuals needing urgent medical attention, one of whom was critically injured and rushed to an area hospital as firefighters worked to free someone trapped inside one of the vehicles.
While officials have not disclosed whether the injured parties were bystanders or linked to the carjacked SUV, WSB-TV confirmed that three of the victims were alert and communicative with medics as they were transported to the hospital.
