Chase drama unfolded in Blaine recently when a routine traffic stop for a defective rear lamp and a missed signal morphed into a high-speed pursuit, with law enforcement using tactical maneuvers to halt a fleeing vehicle. Officers observed the car near Radisson Rd/109 Ave before the situation escalated, culminating in a chase toward the 35W freeway, detailed the Blaine Police Department in a public report.
After attempting to pull over the vehicle for its faulty equipment, the officer found himself in pursuit as the car accelerated in a bid to escape. Light traffic conditions allowed the chase to continue without posing a significant risk to public safety. Attempting to merge onto the freeway, the suspect met his match as a precise PIT maneuver was executed by the officer, causing the vehicle to spin out of control, according to the Blaine Police Department's statement.
The first PIT maneuver brought the vehicle to a halt but wasn't enough to stop the determined driver from attempting another escape. However, a second timely intervention by an assisting officer with another PIT successfully disabled the car. Four individuals were subsequently apprehended from inside the vehicle.
During the search of the car, officers uncovered two fully loaded handguns under the driver's seat, with one identified as stolen from a nearby suburb, the police reported. Each gun poised silent beneath the seat, stood as a harrowing testament to what might have unfolded had the chase continued uncurbed. The suspects, now in custody, face serious charges for their actions and the possession of these illegal firearms.
