
Four young men from Battle Creek were arrested after allegedly attempting to break into a business in Camden Township, Hillsdale County, with law enforcement engaging in a high-speed pursuit reaching speeds up to 125 mph. According to WTVB, the suspects, wearing ski masks, attempted to flee when state police responded to a midnight alarm on Tuesday.
The chase quickly escalated as the suspects' vehicle led Michigan State Police troopers on a dangerous pursuit through Branch County and onto Interstate 69. During this intense pursuit, the suspects tried to desperately evade capture, with the chase finally coming to an end after the State Police Trooper executed a successful pit maneuver. "All five suspects tried to flee," as detailed by WTVB, with two arrested following verbal commands and the remaining three apprehended with the help of a police canine unit.
Arrested were 19-year-old Dontay Dequan Brooks, 18-year-olds Jeremiah Javon Smith and Milton Tyler Hudson, and 23-year-old Treshaun Omeirr Boykins. They were charged with breaking and entering, possession of burglary tools, fleeing and eluding, unlawfully driving away a motor vehicle, and larceny from a vehicle, as WILX News 10 reports. A fifth suspect, a 17-year-old minor, was released to their parents.
