Deputies from Constable Mark Herman's office have taken a felon back to the slammer after pulling him over for a traffic violation and discovering more than just vehicle infractions. During the stop, which occurred on January 29 in the 14000 block of Ella Boulevard, the driver was identified as one Charlie Sheppard—a name bereits bekannt to law enforcement.
Sheppard, it turned out, was not just operating a vehicle. As the officers delved deeper, they found he was also carrying illegal cargo: a firearm and a controlled substance. The man's criminal record features a smudge of a prior conviction, rendering his possession of the weapon a stark violation of the law. The search essentially ensured that Sheppard's roadside stop was to be abruptly extended behind bars.
In a post on their official Facebook page, Constable Herman's office detailed the charges: "Charlie Sheppard was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Felon in Possession of a Firearm. His total bond was set at $80,000.00 out of the 182nd District Court," the post read. A direct link to the post can be found in the official facebook page of Constable Mark Herman's office.
The incident puts Sheppard back in the spotlight, this time with an $80,000 price tag to potentially regain his freedom before trial. Officials did not immediately divulge the specific substance or the type of firearm seized, but the charges state clearly enough that Sheppard is alleged to once again, have crossed lines drawn deeply in the legal sand.
