Houston residents should brace for a turbulent weather pattern starting tomorrow afternoon, with the National Weather Service’s Houston/Galveston office reporting the likelihood of "isolated showers or storms." According to a post from X from NWS Houston, the area could see heavy rainfall, potentially accumulating 1-3 inches with possibly higher local amounts. This wet forecast kicks into full swing Friday night, rolling into Saturday, with showers possibly teeming with thunderstorms.

The immediate outlook for today in Houston is reasonably milder. The city can expect partly sunny skies with a high near 70 degrees, followed by an evening that sees partly cloudy conditions, dipping to a low around 55 degrees, as per the National Weather Service's detailed forecast. Although light at first, a south wind is forecast to boost to 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon.

The Storm Prediction Center has also raised flags about the upcoming conditions. "Isolated severe thunderstorms will be possible," beginning late afternoon Friday across some southern Great Plains regions, states their Day 2 Convective Outlook. A "marginal risk" of severe weather is cited for parts of Texas and western Oklahoma. This uptick in storm activity is related to a robust upper jet sweeping across the border and into areas of North Mexico.

As the weekend progresses, Houston should expect showers and a possible thunderstorm before 1 PM on Saturday, then another chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 PM. Transitioning through the weekend, the city skies will eventually clear up to bestow a sunny Sunday with a high near 66 degrees. The improved weather is predicted to extend into early next week, as Houston looks forward to abundant sunshine and gradually decreasing temperatures.
