An inferno ripped through a Central Northwest apartment complex earlier this week, resulting in one fatality and another person hospitalized. Houston firefighters battled the blaze that broke out in the pre-dawn hours of February 24, encountering flames and billowing smoke at 5353 Deep Forest Dr. The fire department was swift to the scene, arriving within an expedient five-minute timeframe to tackle the emergency head-on.

The severity of the incident was emphasized by the Houston Fire Department's (HFD) announcement that an estimated $580,000 in damage ensued from the conflagration, although quick action helped save approximately $500,000 worth of property. As units from multiple stations rushed to fend off the flames, they encountered an overwhelmed defense—a fence—that required forced entry to access the burning structure.

During a rigorous search amidst the smoke, firefighters located a victim and rushed them to nearest hospital, where they were pronounced dead. Meanwhile, a second individual received prompt medical attention and was also transported to the medical facility. The effort to quell the fire included ventilating the units and a meticulous search to ensure no other lives were endangered.

To secure the premises and aid in evaluating the aftermath, CenterPoint Energy was called to the scene. An army of 66 personnel from 13 nearby stations, including crews from Stations 4, 13, 30, and others, descended on the blind chaos, as reported by Houston fire dispatches. These brave individuals worked tirelessly to extinguish the fire, ensuring every smoldering hotspot was thoroughly snuffed out.
