Tragedy struck on a Houston sidewalk earlier this month as a gunman opened fire, leaving one young man dead and another critically injured. Houston Police are now turning to the public with fresh evidence in hopes to quickly apprehend the suspect behind the deadly shooting at 8300 Wilcrest Drive. Security footage from the fateful day has been released, showing a suspect vehicle believed to be the getaway after the shots rang out around 5:30 p.m. on February 3.
The car in question is a black Dodge Ram, model years between 2009 and 2012, outfitted with a bed cover, distinctive TRX signage, and a notably damaged tailgate. The surveillance video released by the Houston Police depicts the wanted vehicle fleeing the scene at speed, something the authorities hope will lead to a quick resolve of the case. Identifying the 26-year-old male victim is still underway, as the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences works to conclusively verify his identity.
In the aftermath of the chaos, the Houston Police Department's Homicide Division Detectives, H. Martinez and S. Chettry, reported to the bloody scene where patrol officers initially found the two male victims. With the Houston Fire Department paramedics' efforts, one man was pronounced dead on the scene while the second was quickly transported to the hospital in a grave condition. The ongoing investigation yielded leads pointing to the black Dodge Ram as the suspect vehicle involved in this brutal act of violence.
The HPD has issued a plea, urging anyone with knowledge about the whereabouts of the elusive pickup truck to come forward. The public's assistance is deemed crucial to hunt down the assailant, as the detectives work to piece together the fragments of this disturbing puzzle. Information can be confidentially relayed to the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS, police say.
