As Houston braces for a breezy and sunny Sunday, with temperatures peaking near 66 degrees, residents are gearing up for a dynamic week of weather. According to the National Weather Service, Houston's forecast anticipates gusty conditions with winds potentially reaching up to 30 mph.
Tonight, the city will experience a dip in temperatures with a low around 52, the breezy conditions will continue, with northwestern gusts maintaining their presence. The rest of the week hints at gradual warming, however, a chance of showers creeps into the forecast by Thursday, elevating to a greater likelihood by the weekend, with temperatures hovering in the low seventies.
The National Weather Service's Storm Prediction Center out of Norman, Oklahoma, provided assurance that severe thunderstorms are not expected on Monday within the region. Their Day 2 Convective Outlook detailed that South to central Florida would see the mid-level closed low deteriorate, yet noted that "overall potential appears too conditional to warrant an unconditional severe weather highlight."
Meanwhile, in Southeast Texas, the National Weather Service in Houston noted on Twitter that "elevated winds will be the main weather story throughout the area." Some showers are possible, particularly in and around the Piney Woods area tonight and into Monday morning based on SE TX temperature outlooks.
As Houstonians continue their week, it seems that weather conditions, while moderately temperate, will accommodate both sunglasses for the sunny days and umbrellas for the potential showers. While the city is no stranger to weather whimsies, it appears that for the moment, violent storms are staying at bay.
