A juvenile was arrested after allegedly leading deputies on a chase in a stolen vehicle. According to a Facebook post by Precinct 4, the incident took place on February 11, when police tried to pull over the suspect on Briarcreek Blvd.
The suspect failed to yield and drove erratically to escape capture, officials said. During the chase, losing control and crashing the vehicle, the juvenile then attempted to elude officers on foot. Deputies managed to catch up and detain the driver, who was confirmed as a juvenile and owned up to the crime of stealing the car.
Constable Mark Herman relayed the details of the arrest, "The juvenile was arrested and booked into the Juvenile Processing Center, charged with Felony Evading and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle."
While the identity of the minor has not been disclosed due to legal protections for underage offenders, the repercussions of the chase draw attention to a broader discussion regarding youth delinquency and the pathways that lead to such incidents.
