Keep Newnan Beautiful, an organization dedicated to enhancing the city's environmental aesthetics and sustainability, recently bagged the prestigious 2023 Governor’s Circle Award. The Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation (KGBF) recognized the affiliate for its tireless efforts in litter reduction, waste minimization, and community greening, according to the City of Newnan's official announcement.
Qualifying for the award is no small feat; affiliates must be certified with Keep America Beautiful (KAB) and be an active member of the KGBF network. These groups are essential in prompting a significant, positive shift towards meeting community needs in key areas such as litter prevention and beautification.
"We are proud of the excellent services Page provides our community as she leads the Keep Newnan Beautiful program," Mayor Brady expressed. He underscored the significant impact of their initiatives: from reviving local streams through litter clean-ups to electronic recycling events. "The work she does greatly impacts the quality of life we enjoy here in the city and will help keep our community a wonderful place for generations to come," as the City of Newnan stated.
Leading the charge, Page Beckwith, the Director of Keep Newnan Beautiful, engages with a broad spectrum of the community, ranging from schoolchildren to local realtors. Her mission: to empower residents in the active shaping of their environment through conscious efforts in litter prevention, beautification, and waste reduction.
