
Early this morning, Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a significant structure fire in Del Rey, according to official reports. The fire took place at a one-story vacant home located at 4918 S Sycamore Dr.
At approximately 06:14 AM, fire crews were dispatched to battle the heavy flames. LAFD, entering into an offensive mode, worked quickly to contain the inferno within the structure. The incident, logged as INC#0280, required the assistance of multiple battalions and tactical teams from both LAFD and the neighboring Culver City Fire Department.
The comprehensive efforts of the firefighters resulted in the knockdown of the structure fire by 06:55 AM, as noted in a follow-up alert by the LAFD. It took 37 firefighters 41 minutes to extinguish the blaze which had fully engulfed the residence when they arrived.
After the flames were subdued, two patients were found inside the home. One individual was transported to a medical facility in unknown condition, while the other was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. The names of the individuals have not yet been released to the public. Fire crews were able to hold the fire to the original unit, avoiding further damage to surrounding properties.
