The streets just got a bit safer, thanks to the efforts of the Organized Retail Crime Task Force. L.A. shops have battled a string of bold and brash ‘flash-robberies,’ but the task force is bringing down the hammer. In a significant crackdown, they've slapped the cuffs on one suspect believed to be behind the loot-and-dash chaos.
It looked like any other day in Lancaster, California, until the task force came knocking. On January 31, 2024, members swung into action, executing a search and arrest warrant linked to the Topanga Nordstrom ransacking last August. What they found was more than just stolen goods—an unregistered handgun, an extended magazine, ammunition, and roughly $4,500 in cold U.S. cash were lying in wait.
Meet 28-year-old Travelle Hamblet, the man now swept up in the legal storm. According to the LAPD Newsroom statement, our flash-robbery aficionado hails from Lancaster and is taking a detour to the slammer, booked for robbery under Booking No. 6751803.
But the illustrious task force, comprising detectives from an alliance of police departments including Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, Burbank, Torrance, and Glendale, isn’t done yet. They’re casting a wide net and are on the hunt for more leads. People with the skinny on any suspicious activity can dial up Lieutenant Michael McComas on the horn at 818-374-9420, or shoot an email to [email protected]. For those preferring the shadowy confines of anonymity, the L.A. Regional Crime Stoppers is your ally, reachable at 1-800-222-TIPS or via their website.
