Early this morning, a plume of smoke rose into the Livermore sky as firefighters rushed to extinguish a blaze in the vicinity of Hacienda and Interstate 580. The Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department was quick to respond, finding a dumpster encased within a 20-foot by 10-foot trash enclosure engulfed in flames. The report, issued on their Facebook page, confirmed that Engine 90 and Truck 93 managed to douse the fire without incident.
While heading to an administrative detail, the vigilant crew of Engine 90 spotted the smoke. “Engine 90 reported a large column of smoke visible in the area of Hacienda and I-580,” according to the Fire Department’s statement. Their prompt action ensured safety, quelling the fire before it could spread further.
The Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department's quick reactions come as a reminder of the continuous readiness expected of our emergency services. In a statement obtained by the department’s social media, they expressed gratitude toward their team: “We thank our crews for always staying vigilant throughout the day ensuring our communities remain safe.”
The origins of the fire are yet to be disclosed as investigations continue into the cause of the inferno. What could have been a major disaster, was mitigated by the swift and decisive action of the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department, ensuring a normally busy day was not transformed into one marked by tragedy and destruction.
