Flames engulfed a Venice duplex early this afternoon, prompting a rapid response from the Los Angeles Fire Department. The LAFD was alerted to a structure fire at 337 S 6th Avenue in Venice, as reported in a statement on their website. On February 14th, at approximately 1:01 p.m., firefighters arrived at a two-story building where smoke was observed billowing from the first floor. An offensive attack was immediately launched to combat the blaze.
According to the LAFD alert, the fire erupted in a duplex set amid a cluster of three separate condos, subsequently cordoned off by first responders. Venturing into the flaming unit with hose lines in hand, the firefighters encountered a scene without inhabitants.
A commendable effort by the LAFD saw the fire knocked down by 1:17 p.m., 16 minutes after their arrival. In total, 36 firefighters were assigned to the scene, as noted in a follow-up release on the LAFD’s website.
While the flames have been tamed, the cause of the fire remains a mystery under active investigation by authorities.
