Los Angeles residents can expect to slowly shake off the morning fog over the next few days, according to the latest extended forecast for the area. Today offers a peek of sun post-mist with temperatures capping at a mild 66 degrees, but don't ditch the light jackets just yet. As reported by the National Weather Service, a light breeze will swing from the east-northeast in the morning to the west-southwest by the afternoon.

Tonight, the city of angels will be draped once again in patchy fog after 10 p.m., with cloud cover gradually inching in and temperatures dropping to around 50. If you're planning to be out, a south-southeast wind will turn to come from the north-northeast after midnight, subtle but present. The constant dance of fog and clear skies seems to define Los Angeles' weather pattern as Friday morning will begin cloudy, "then gradually becoming mostly sunny," with the mercury aiming to hit a more comfortable 77 degrees.

According to the National Weather Service, the weekend should bring more of the same with patchy fog in the a.m. preceding partial sunshine. Highs on Saturday are expected to be cozy at around 73, and dipping into the low 50s come nightfall. Sunday, however, prepares to modestly cool down to 68 degrees, casting partly sunny skies across L.A.

Angelenos looking to start their workweek might have to seriously consider toting an umbrella as Monday introduces a chance of rain in a mostly cloudy sky and a high hovering near 64. The night sets the stage for rain likely to be on the forecast, establishing a low at 51 degrees. Tuesday might offer a reprieve with "a slight chance of showers" and a surge back to mostly sunny conditions, tapping a high near 63. Wednesday, hold forth as the city expects to bask in full sunlight and a comfortable temperature swinging back up around 65.
