A routine traffic stop by the city's Gang Unit has landed one man behind bars on serious drug charges after cops say they found him in possession of a substantial amount of narcotics. The bust went down on Monday, February 26, when officers pulled over a vehicle for undisclosed violations that quickly escalated into a drug trafficking arrest.
Details provided by the Lowell Police Department Facebook page state that the officers discovered Class B and Class A drugs, specifically cocaine and fentanyl, leading to the suspect's apprehension. The quantity of the substances found was significant enough, to warrant a trafficking charge – a grave concern considering the opioid crisis gripping the nation.
Police have not released the identity of the suspect taken into custody or the details of the vehicle stop that led to the discovery of the drugs.
