Booze cruise ended with bracelets for one allegedly soused driver on an FM 2920 Road, after deputies slapped the cuffs on a man reportedly triple the legal limit. Nelson Velasquez fell foul of the law on February 4, when he was pulled over by deputies from Constable Mark Herman's Office.
Flunking his sobriety test with flying colors, Velasquez allegedly could hardly hide the signs that he had been drinking. Although he initially refused to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, he later consented to provide a breath sample, an interaction that left officers with little doubt about his condition.
"Nelson Velasquez was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged and booked for Driving While Intoxicated. His bond was set at $100.00 out of County Court 10," Constable Mark Herman detailed in a statement from his official facebook page. It was during these subsequent tests that the driver's alcohol level was found to be 0.217 – a staggering triple the amount that state law permits.
This arrest serves as stark reminder of the dangers and legal consequences that come with driving under influence. Velasquez, now with a DUI charge hanging over his head, will have to navigate the legal repercussions of his alleged choice to operate a vehicle while intoxicated, his freedom hanging by the thread of a $100 bond.
