A man has been charged in Gwinnett County for a bold crime, where he's accused of impersonating a federal agent during a home invasion, while police continue the hunt for his two alleged accomplices. According to FOX 5 Atlanta, Luis Soto is facing a slew of charges: home invasion, two counts each of kidnapping, aggravated assault, false imprisonment, armed robbery, and a single count of impersonating a public official.
The charges stem from an incident on December 6, 2023, where it is claimed three men in tactical gear forcibly entered an apartment on Herrington Road in Lawrenceville. Investigators say they not only tied up a man and his son but also stole nearly $3,000 worth of sneakers and jewelry, making off after threatening the residents by claiming they were "federal agents." Soto was nabbed by police in a traffic stop on January 25. During the search of Soto's residence, officials discovered tactical vests, ammunition, police badges, and items recognized as belonging to the victims, as per the report from WSB-TV.
Soto, who has since been taken into custody, remains at the Gwinnett County Jail with no chance for bond. As WSB-TV reports, Gwinnett County Police Department detectives are actively working to identify the other two suspects involved in the traumatic event.
