A dispute turned violent last night in Long Beach when a man was shot following a heated argument, police said Saturday. The incident occurred on the 2100 block of Lemon Avenue around 9:43 pm, where responding officers found an adult male with a gunshot wound to his upper body.

According to the Long Beach Police Department's official blotter, the Long Beach Fire Department paramedics provided treatment at the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital, where his injuries were reported as non-life-threatening. The LBPD blotter added that the preliminary investigation revealed the victim had been in a verbal confrontation with four suspects, and during the altercation one suspect drew a firearm, fired at the victim, thereafter the suspects all fled the scene leaving the victim wounded and in the care of emergency services.

As of now, the Long Beach Police have yet to release further details about the suspects involved in the shooting and their investigation is active. Detectives were on the scene shortly after the incident gathering evidence and working to understand the circumstances that led to the confrontation and subsequent shooting.

No arrests have been made and authorities are appealing to the public for any information related to the incident, urging witnesses or anyone with knowledge to come forward as the search for the suspects continues the community remains in a state of concern as the suspects remain at large and the potential danger they pose is still present with detectives asking people to provide any detail that could lead to a resolution.
