
Chaos erupted just west of downtown San Antonio in the early hours on Tuesday when a 45-year-old man was slashed with a machete, sustaining injuries to his arm, leg, and hand. According to KENS 5, police were called to the scene on the 100 block of North Medina Street after reports of a cutting came in around 2:35 a.m. The victim's wounds were severe enough to require an evaluation by EMS to determine the necessity of hospitalization.
Officers on the scene have detained a 57-year-old suspect who is believed to have wielded the machete during what was described as a confrontation gone terribly awry, the suspect might also have sustained injuries during the incident but details on his condition have not been disclosed, and no other injuries related to the altercation have been reported at this time. The motives behind the violent encounter remain under investigation.
The area of North Frio Street and West Commerce Street, where the attack took place, is currently being scoured for evidence as police attempt to unravel what exactly precipitated the vicious attack.
