The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) has announced an open house to discuss updates on the Highway 25 project, which will span from Buffalo to Monticello, aimed at improving safety and traffic flow. The meeting is set to take place from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 14, at the Wright County Highway Department in Buffalo, as reported by the Wright County, Minnesota.
Residents are invited to drop in at the open house to view the proposed designs and talk to the project team, MnDOT is looking to present their findings from a 2021 study that mapped out needed improvements along the corridor specific to the section from Catlin Street to Kjellberg Court, areas like the road surface, turn lanes, and drainage systems are all on the agenda for reconstruction or improvement. This also includes a new roundabout at County Road 37 and another at Catlin Street.
Another roundabout is planned to be built in 2024 at the intersection of Highway 25 and County Road 83/35th Street NE, a construction that will necessitate a detour while it is under construction, according to the Wright County website.
When all the dust settles and the construction wraps up in 2026, the project, totaling an estimated cost of $15.1 million, is expected to enhance the travel experience by providing a smoother road surface and improving overall safety for the seven miles of Highway 25, For project details or accessibility accommodations, folks are encouraged to reach out to Jenna Fabish, MnDOT’s project development manager, or visit the dedicated project web page.
