A 20-year-old Mount Clemens woman, Cheyenne Randolph, faces life imprisonment after being charged with the attempted murder of her father. As detailed by the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office and reported by The Detroit News, Randolph allegedly shot her 66-year-old father multiple times following an argument at their shared apartment.
Officials say the shooting occurred early in the morning on February 23, sparking a response from local law enforcement that found the victim suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite his injuries, the father's condition has stabilized and he is expected to recover, this grim scene unfolded on Hubbard Street after 7 a.m. The Hoodline reports that the senior was quickly taken to a nearby hospital where he remains in a stable condition.
In a statement that underscores the gravity of this domestic tragedy, Macomb County Prosecutor Pete Lucido said, “This incident serves as a reminder of the serious nature of domestic violence and the urgent need for intervention and support for all those affected," as obtained by WWJ Newsradio 950. The accused, Randolph, was arraigned at the 41B Clinton Township District Court, facing charges of Assault with Intent to Murder, Felony Firearm, and Aggravated Domestic Violence.
Following her arraignment, a substantial bond was set. According to court records, Randolph's bond was set at $2 million, and she was ordered to have no contact with the witness. She remains behind bars in the Macomb County Jail. While the defendant pleaded not guilty, her lawyer, Joan Morgan, declined to comment on the arraignment as stated by The Detroit News. The next step in the legal proceedings, a probable cause conference, is slated for 8:30 a.m. on March 5.
While initial reports by the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office referred to Randolph as a California woman, further details clarified that she was indeed a resident of Mount Clemens living with her father, the victim, in the apartment where the event took place. As the investigation continues, further details surrounding the cause of the altercation and shooting are expected to be revealed.
