Nando's Peri-Peri Brings Signature Flame-Grilled Chicken to LaCenterra in Katy, HoustonSource: Nando's Peri Peri

The culinary landscape of Katy just got spicier with the opening of Nando's Peri-Peri at the LaCenterra retail and dining center. This marks the second Houston outpost for the South African chain known for its Portuguese-style flame-grilled chicken. Hungry folks in Texas can now savor dishes featuring the piquant peri-peri chili earlier this month, as announced by the Houston Chronicle.

Despite initially slated to launch in spring 2023 then penciled in for January, the Nando's team finally fired up grills earlier this month, bringing with it a menu loaded with macaroni and cheese bowls, chicken thigh skewers, and sandwiches and wraps wrapped in flame-kissed chicken. As reported by the Community Impact, the Katy location, featuring seating for 70 guests, is a vibrant addition to the Cinco Ranch dining scene.

Each Nando's restaurant is a feast for the senses, known just as much for its eclectic design as its spicy chicken. The Katy establishment continues this tradition, adorned with hand-painted walls and a ceiling dotted with handwoven light shades from South African design house Ashanti. Adding to the ambiance, patrons can gaze upon small-scale South African art pieces, part of Nando's extensive contemporary art collection curated in partnership with Creative Block.

Nando's CEO John Fisher shared in a statement obtained by the Houston Chronicle, "The reception we've experienced across the state has been phenomenal, with tremendous support and warmth from the local communities." The company is not only looking to win over taste buds but is also aiming to become an integral thread in the community's fabric. According to a Community Impact news release, Fisher said, "We are thrilled to not only introduce our renowned flame-grilled peri-peri dishes but also to weave ourselves into the vibrant fabric of the Cinco Ranch community."

Since its 1987 debut in Johannesburg, South Africa, Nando's has become a global force, spreading to 24 countries across five continents. The chain has been firing up the U.S. market since 2008, continually expanding its influence with locations such as Katy's, promising newcomers a taste of its internationally beloved fare.
