Detective Lieutenant Mike Glowka, a seasoned officer from Northern New Jersey, has made it his mission to pedal with purpose. For the past six years, Glowka has saddled up to join the "Police Unity Tour," a 300-mile journey to Washington D.C., all in the name of honoring those wearing the badge who have fallen in the line of duty.
With each push of the pedal, the detective lieutenant isn't just clocking miles but is also raising awareness and funds critical to commemorating his fallen comrades. A statement on the Plymouth Police Department's Facebook page hailed Glowka's unwavering dedication, noting, "We admire his dedication to his profession and for those that lose their lives who make the ultimate sacrifice while carrying out their duty."
The ride itself, which has become an annual fixture since its inception, is a testament to the bonds forged in the line of service—the kind that extends beyond precincts and state lines to unify those in blue with one heartbeat.
The "Police Unity Tour" has not only become a beacon of remembrance but also a significant fundraiser for the National Law Enforcement Memorial. The money raised through this grueling trek is vital, propping up the Memorial and its efforts to pay homage to the men and women who have donned the uniform and made the ultimate sacrifice. Detective Lieutenant Glowka and his fellow riders are set to embark on this poignant pilgrimage once again, reaffirming their pledge to never forget the true cost of safety and security echoed in the empty place settings of countless family dinners across the nation.
