A North Texas woman who mysteriously vanished Thursday after reportedly aiding a homeless man was later found over 400 miles away in Laredo, authorities confirmed early Friday. The woman, aged 37, had initially sparked urgent search efforts when she disappeared in DeSoto, triggering a Clear Alert as law enforcement raised concerns she might have been kidnapped, per CBS Austin.
Described as 5'5" and weighing 140 pounds, with hazel eyes and clad in black scrubs, she had last been seen at a Taco Casa on East Parkerville Road. There, she purchased a meal for a man believed to be homeless and is now treated by police as a suspect. During the incident, wearing a blue and white plaid shirt, the suspect, a bald Hispanic male in his mid-20s to mid-30s, was also reported to be last seen, as described by the DeSoto Police Department.
However, the scenario took a turn shortly after midnight when the local authorities updated that she was found, alleviating fears for her safety but leaving many questions unanswered. According to an update shared by WFAA, it remains unclear whether any arrests have been made or the precise chain of events leading to her initial disappearance and eventual discovery.
While details surrounding the woman's sudden disappearance and subsequent location in Laredo remain scant, the public breathed a collective sigh of relief at the news of her safety. The vehicle she was last seen driving, a 2015 Silver Chevy Malibu with Texas plates, became a vital clue in piecing together her whereabouts after she was last sighted buying food for the suspect. Circumstances of the case, as they unfold, continue to be under cautious scrutiny by law enforcement officials.
