Oakland cops are on the hunt for a beat-up Lexus they say is linked to a chilling slay – and they're turning to the public for clues. The vehicle, a black Lexus ES 350 with a banged-up front fender, is wanted in connection to a January 13 daylight shooting that left one person dead on A Street, according to a Facebook post by the Oakland Police Department (OPD).
The grim discovery was made on the afternoon of the crime when officers, tracing the echo of gunfire, converged on the intersection only to find a soul slipping from life. A punitive projectile had ruptured their peace, and now, as the medics rushed to cradle the waning beats of the heart, the pavement bore witness to another statistic of mortality. OPD's Homicide Section is spearheading the case to unravel the web of events that resulted in the victim's demise – whose name is withheld as loved ones are alerted to their irreversible loss.
Authorities are tight-lipped but resolute, asserting the investigation is active and ongoing, soliciting intelligence from anyone who might have crossed paths with the suspect vehicle or can provide a lead. To that end, residents with potential insights or pertinent information are encouraged to come forward and contact the OPD Homicide Section directly at (510) 238-3821 or spill what they know through the tip line at (510) 238-7950.
