A violent car crash on MoPac Expressway in Austin left one person with critical injuries, according to authorities. The rollover accident occurred on Monday evening during the rush hour traffic, causing emergency services to swiftly respond to the scene.
Austin-Travis County EMS reported that the incident took place at approximately 5:30 p.m. in the northbound lane of 13000 North MoPac Expressway, between Howard Lane and Scofield Ridge Parkway. Medics arrived to find one individual ejected from the vehicle. "Medics and the Austin Fire Department were on scene," said in a statement obtained by KXAN, with the patient immediately taken to St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center for their life-threatening injuries.
The extent of the injuries was severe enough for medics to declare the patient a trauma alert on the spot. The patient's current condition remains unknown as no further updates have been provided following the initial reports.
Austin-Travis County EMS gave few additional details, yet they did confirm that no other individuals were involved in the traumatic event. "FINAL Rollover Collision at 13000 N Mopac Expy Nb (cross St. Century Park, 17:01)... with one patient ejected," according to the official Facebook post shared by Austin-Travis County EMS.
