In a sweeping crackdown on crime, Operation Consequences has launched a seven-day mission, stretching from February 10 through February 16, to suppress targeted criminal activity across San Bernardino and neighboring cities. The aggressive push, led by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, is part of a broader strategy to increase law enforcement presence and dismantle the infrastructure of local gangs and illicit firearms trade, according to SBSD - Headquarters.
Investigators from the Gangs/Narcotics Division, backed by patrol divisions and a host of other agencies, aim to openly challenge and disrupt criminal activities in the county. The operation has led to the execution of 15 search warrants and generated encounters with known gang affiliates and individuals who are legally barred from owning guns. In raids that spanned multiple locations, the task force managed to quickly seize over 600 pounds of suspected methamphetamine and a cache of 22 firearms, among which five were untraceable ghost guns.
These efforts resulted in 17 felony arrests, a clear signal that law enforcement is pushing back hard against the tide of criminality in the area. The surge is fueled by the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors, who approved additional funding directed specifically at quality-of-life crimes, ensuring that the department’s resources are equipped to handle the scale of operations required, as per SBSD - Headquarters.
The department considers the operation to be just the opening salvo in what will be an ongoing series of operations targeted at the criminal undercurrent plaguing the High Desert and surrounding areas.
