In a chilling turn of events, Minnesota man Alonzo Pierre Mingo, 37, has been charged with the murder of three individuals following a home invasion where he masqueraded as a package delivery driver. According to AP News, the tragic incident unfolded in a suburban Minneapolis house and involved the fatal shooting of three people, an act carried out while two young children, both under the age of five, were present.
The Coon Rapids Police Department received a distressing call on Friday, leading them to a grim scene where two men and a woman were found deceased, with gunshot wounds to their heads. Mingo, charged with three counts of second-degree murder, with intent, faces justice behind bars on a $5 million bond. During his initial court appearance this past Monday, Mingo was denied a public defender, while court records at the moment do not indicate he has an attorney.
Details of the home invasion were pieced together through video evidence obtained from the scene. According to Atlanta News First, footage from a home security camera purportedly captured Mingo, who was dressed in an outfit resembling a UPS uniform, directing victims at gunpoint within the residence. Police allege that Mingo demanded money from the victims before leading a woman and the children to a bedroom where the executions took place.
The aftermath of this heinous crime is drawn into sharper focus when noting that one of the older children entered the bedroom after the shots were fired, crying hysterically—a detail that underscores the horrifying nature of the offense. A brief investigation led to the arrest of Mingo, previously employed at UPS until early January, a mere hours after the crime took place. "The older child can be seen entering the bedroom shortly thereafter, crying hysterically," Coon Rapids police was quoted by Atlanta News First.
The victims of this atrocious act were identified as Shannon Patricia Jungwirth, 42; her son, Jorge Alexander Reyes-Jungwirth, 20; and her husband, Mario Alberto Trejo Estrada, 39, all residents of Coon Rapids. Police say they are still investigating the incident and have unearthed a UPS delivery uniform top and vest in Mingo's backpack, along with finding fingerprints on the cardboard box used in the invasion matching those of Mingo. As this investigation continues, authorities will be determining if the other two individuals seen in the video will face charges.
