A sticky-fingered duo was nabbed after boosting goods from a Texas Lowe's, officials said. The heist, which took place on February 26, led to a combative confrontation and the deployment of a Taser before law enforcement could slap the cuffs on, according to authorities.
Constable Mark Herman's deputies, zeroing in on a tip at the Lowe's on the 20200 block of the North Freeway, learned a man and a woman had surreptitiously stuffed merchandise worth nearly $600 and dashed past cash registers, fleeing in a waiting vehicle, the constable's office reported in a Facebook post. A traffic stop turned tense when the driver, later identified as John Brantley, resisted arrest, leading a deputy to use his Taser.
Not only was Brantley apprehended, but he was also found to be wanted on a child endangerment warrant and was caught with crystal methamphetamine on him, officials noted. The passenger, Darian Raymond, was detained without further incident.
"Both suspects were arrested, and booked into the Harris County Jail. John Brantley was arrested for the open warrant and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Theft. His total bond was set at $5,100.00 out of the 337th District Court. Darian Raymond was charged with Theft, Her bond was set at $100.00 out of County Court 12," Constable Mark Herman's office stated.
