The Detroit community is breathing a sigh of relief for at least part of Pingree Farms' stolen livestock, as a bull and a sheep have been safely located. This discovery ends part of a harrowing ordeal that began a week ago with an audacious theft of rare animals. According to FOX 2 Detroit, suspects in a SUV broke into the urban farm and absconded with the animals, including a calf and goat which remain at large.

Early reports provided by Hoodline detailed a scene of chaos, with animals running free within the compound following the breach of security. The thieves were captured on surveillance footage at around 3 a.m. Thursday, leading away Pingree Farms' specially-trained sheep, "Angel," and "Little Bully," a miniature Angus bull, in addition to a rare Nubian goat, whose whereabouts remain unknown.

The search ended for two of the four stolen animals early Friday at a property on Bryden Street off of Tireman Avenue on Detroit's west side. "Overwhelmed," said James MacPhearson Green of Pingree Farms, upon receiving the news that the bull and sheep were found, according to FOX 2 Detroit. While the reunion marked a victory for the farm, the quest continues for the other beloved animals.

Pingree Farms serves as a haven for educating Detroit’s youth about agriculture. "They obviously knew which animals they were going for," Jim Green, owner of Milton Manufacturing and Pingree Farms, speculated of the perpetrators in a statement obtained by WWJ Newsradio 950. He added, "Fortunately, none of them got out of compound," despite the thieves releasing several animals during the heist.

The Detroit Police Department continues to investigate, urging anyone with information to come forward. The public can contact the Detroit Police Department’s non-emergency number at 313-267-4600 to offer any leads on the stolen goat and calf that remain missing. Pingree Farms, and the greater Detroit community, await their safe return.
