Mayor Cherelle L. Parker is beefing up her administration with a slew of new hires aimed at delivering economic growth for Philadelphia's residents and ensuring the city shines during its upcoming high-profile events. The latest round of personnel appointments comes as Parker pushes ahead with her agenda for a city that's safer, cleaner, greener, and ripe with opportunity for all, particularly for minority-owned businesses.
Among the new faces, Michael Newmuis stands out as the freshly minted 2026 Director. He's no stranger to the big leagues, having tackled the 2017 NFL Draft, the 2016 Democratic National Convention, and Pope Francis' historical 2015 visit, according to a statement released by the city. A former bigwig at FS Investments and executive director of the FS Foundation, Newmuis is set to play a central role as Philly preps to host a series of blockbuster events, including the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the 250th anniversary of America's founding.
“Today we are announcing the team who will help ensure economic opportunities across the city, including for minority-owned businesses,” Mayor Parker declared. And with major events like WrestleMania and the MLB All-Star Game on the horizon, Parker is betting on her new team to score big for Philadelphia.
In her pursuit of excellence, Mayor Parker has promised to only settle for the crème de la crème.“As we continue to set the foundation of this administration, we must take the time to select the most qualified, best-suited individuals for these roles – our best and brightest. 57 days in, we are making every day count as we continue to make personnel decisions and complete the Parker administration.” she stated
