The Philadelphia Police Department is reaching out to the community in search of two missing individuals, Janet Frederic and Malik Rashied, both considered endangered due to their respective circumstances. Frederic, a 69-year-old man, was last noted on the 13xx block of Harrison Street on February 26, around 6:00 pm, wearing mismatched shoes, one being a chestnut-colored slipper, the other a tan booty, along with a gray straw fedora hat, according to a police bulletin. The 5’10” senior, weighing roughly 180 lbs., with brown eyes and salt/pepper hair and beard, has not been seen since.
Meanwhile, Rashied, 53, has been missing since 10 a.m. Monday after last being spotted on the 5500 block of Pulaski Avenue. His cell phone was discovered before 2 p.m. on the same day, abandoned on the Chestnut Hill West train at Suburban Station, signifying potential distress or confusion. Known to frequent various SEPTA Subway Stations, Rashied is without his personal communications device in a sprawling metropolis where the underground can often feel like a labyrinth to the unmoored, as per the police report shared by Patch.com.
The Philadelphia Police have not provided any additional details on Rashied's appearance or clothings from the day he vanished, with this information missing also from the notice published on Tri-Casest Buzz. In the face of silence, Philly residents are urged to step out, look up from the unfoldings of their daily lives, and be on the lookout for these two men whose whereabouts remain shrouded in questions, as families await their safe return.
The city's law enforcement is asking anyone with information about Frederic or Rashied to come forward. If armed with any details that could lead to locating these two, please contact Northeast Detectives at (215) 686-3153 or call 911. In cases such as these, every ticking moment is precious, and the thin threads of hope are woven by the collective efforts of the community, bound to each other by those small acts that affirm our commitment to our neighbor's well-being.
