A Philadelphia man, aged 67, was cuffed on felony and misdemeanor counts for his alleged part in the notorious breach of the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. Kenneth Giusini, the accused, faces a slew of charges, including the felony of obstructing law enforcement during a civil disorder and misdemeanors for unlawful entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds, as per the criminal complaint filed in the District of Columbia.
The feds nabbed Giusini today in Philly, where he's slated for his initial court appearance in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Surveillance and body-cam footage purportedly tell a tale of a breach participant, identified as Giusini, as he entered the Capitol through the north door and shoved a cop during the chaos, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office, District of Columbia.
Based on court documents, Giusini was seen on Capitol surveillance standing in a hallway, recording law enforcement as they held back the rioters. Moments later, body-worn camera footage shows him outside, in the fray again, physically confronting officers trying to secure the area. He was removed only to return and continue pushing against the police line.
The case is in the hands of the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia, aided by the Department of Justice National Security Division's Counterterrorism Section, and supported by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Since the Capitol breach, arrests have reached upwards of 1,313 individuals across the United States, with over 469 of them facing serious charges of assaulting or impeding law enforcement, as per the U.S. Attorney's Office, District of Columbia.
