Plymouth City is on the hunt for a new Ward 1 council member after Alise McGregor dropped a bombshell resignation outta nowhere, effective yesterday, because she's packing up to live elsewhere.
McGregor has been the voice for Plymouth's northwest since 2019, and she threw in the towel with a resignation letter to the city brass last Thursday, barely a year after voters checked her name on their ballots for a full term, and now Mayor Jeff Wosje's gotta figure out who'll warm her seat until January 6, 2025, the city's already buzzing about who's up next.
Appointed to replace Judy Johnson who hightailed it to the Metropolitan Council in 2019, McGregor won the crowd over and snagged a four-year term in 2020, but her goodbye note's all niceties, "has been a great honor filled with making great relationships with many people!" she said in her letter, which the city's website Plymouthmn.gov quotes.
Mayor Jeff Wosje, not one to dilly-dally, put a special City Council meeting on the books for 6 p.m. this coming Monday, where they'll chew over how to fill McGregor's suddenly empty chair, but let's not forget what she said in her swansong about Plymouth being "truly a special community" and patting herself on the back for the "work we have accomplished,".
