A bank service technician was plundered by two masked suspects during a robbery that took place on the morning of February 23, at the Bank of America in Cedar Hill. The suspects made off in a black SUV, only to be later intercepted following a police chase that spanned multiple locations, according to the Cedar Hill Police Department.
The pursuit kicked off when Duncanville officers spotted the suspects' vehicle, leading to a car chase. The suspects managed to ditch the original getaway car, commandeering a second vehicle at gunpoint from an unsuspecting citizen. It was during this leg of the escape that the suspects crashed into an unmarked police car, and then were involved in another collision which incapacitated their newly stolen vehicle. Two suspects were apprehended on foot near the crash site, while a third was later discovered hiding in a resident's backyard.
Authorities have pegged the estimated loot from the original heist at over $300,000. Despite the confrontations and collisions, the Duncanville Police officer involved emerged without injury. However, two suspects and one civilian required medical attention for minor injuries incurred in the mayhem, the police statement detailed. While one additional person was treated at the scene, no severe injuries were reported.
The names of the suspects remain under wraps as detectives dig deeper into what appears to be a complex case with multiple leads. The Cedar Hill Police Department has extended its gratitude towards Southwest Regional Communications and the Duncanville Police Department for their aid in nabbing the culprits.
